Two departments merged into Home Ministry, notification issued
The government has merged two divisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs. This important ministry of the government has returned to its previous structure. The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.
It said that the President has brought this amendment to the Rules of Business by virtue of the powers conferred by Article 55(6) of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Under this, the Department of Security Services and the Department of Public Safety have been merged and reorganized as the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In November 2024, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus directed the unification of the two departments of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The matter was recently approved by the Secretaries’ Committee on Administrative Development.
